History[]
The Sixth Company has been active since the founding of the Ghosts of Retribution in 306.M41, and since the cleansing of Varda early in the century it has served as the claimed planet's caretakers.
The 6th Company was hit hardest by the Betrayal at Varda, but its heroism in the face of betrayal saved countless civilian lives and took a terrible toll on the enemy, until Chapter Master made planetfall with the rest of the Chapter and smashed the traitorous Iron Monks.
Over the next decade the Sixth continued their duties as the defenders of Varda; eliminating Ork threats from the deep jungle, training the newly formed Vardan PDF, and mercilessly hunting down Frateri cells that had survived the war.
In 348.M41 Lieutenant Hector led his company on the incredible successful Operation Burning Mountain, and eradicated all serious Ork threats of Varda for many years. For this exceptional performance as well as their long history defending Varda the Sixth Company gains a reputation as Ork-hunters without peer, even amongst a Chapter with as much history with the greenskins as the Ghosts of Retribution.
The Sixth Company would put their Orkfighting expertise to great use in the Triot Campaign (363.M41), forming the primary fighting force alongside First and Tenth Company elements while the inexperienced Eighth Company served as a reserve force.
Company Traits[]
- Guardians of Varda: The Sixth Company has spent more time on Varda than all other Companies put together. While the people of Varda hold all marines of the Ghosts of Retribution in great esteem, the Sixth Company is seen as their protectors and its Captain the unofficial steward of the planet.
- Orkfighters: The Sixth Company has immense experience in fighting the greenskin menace.
