Background[]
The Ursus Dynasty witnessing the decline of the Belisarian Dynasty and their coming chance to seize power foresaw the need for not just more loyal servants but of loyal vassals and in their blunt but cunning way greatly expanded upon an old Imperial practice of recruiting from savages.
When the planet Lituanica was rediscovered and absorbed by the Imperium, its people like many pre-industrial imperial worlds had little to offer to the wider Imperium however their status as political outsiders on the fringe of “real” imperial society made them excellent servants of the nobility with no real ties to imperial society other than their patron who has a relatively easy time to acquire their loyalty. In a similar vein the neighbouring fortress world of Malta most famously has the Parliamentarian Guard composed of Lituanican Knights rather than native Maltese such is the importance placed loyal guards.
The Ursus Dynasty recruited from ambitious nobles of this planet who have recently lost their power and influence in power struggles to the point of fleeing for their lives offering them a second chance to get back in the game on a far grander stage. These Lituanican nobles proved their worth steadfastly serving under the Ursus banner throughout the civil war as the last direct descendant of the Belisarian Dynasty died.
In recognition of their service, the new ruling dynasty bestowed upon the Vilnius Dynasty some of the recently seized Belisarian property on Tachion Primaris, though only a relatively small portion of the spoils captured this was enough to propel the Vilnius Dynasty to the forefront of the local Tachion Primaris nobility.
While the dynasty has married into imperial nobility, occasionally they would recruit new members through a re-enactment of their founding by secretly searching for promising but desperate nobles from Lituanica.

The dynasty is considered to be a staunch Ursus ally serving in all manner of roles from envoys to castellans, although they are more known as savages squatting on the property of actual nobility by their enemies in the nobility with the moniker of vandals or jackals.
Coat of Arms[]
Their coat of arms shows the Vilnius River on the planet Lituanica from which the dynasty took their name. This was the site where the founding members of the dynasty crossed the river to formally swear their allegiance to the waiting Ursus Dynasty.
