Description[]

Originally colonised in the Dark Age of Technology, human civilisation on Roanok  was blown back to the stone age during the Age of Strife. In the thousands of years since Roanok has endured as an independent world of fuedal primitives, ignorant of the galaxy around them.

After its rediscovery in early M41 it was the subject of a colonization effort in 120.M41, with Imperial colonists being brought in to assist and Missionaries converting the primitive native populace. The original intent was for Roanok to provide additional agri supplies to Le Keers so mining operations on Le Keers could expand, but the long-term goal was to turn Roanok into a fully-fledged agri-world that could supplement Giniaria - or even replace it if necessary.

However in 152.M41 an Ork Waaagh slammed into Subsector Meridian and conquered the Industrial world of Triot, cutting off all industrial support to the burgeoning Roanok colony. To make matters worse for the colony, a small ork klan splintered off from the main Waaagh and and attacked Roanok. The initial settlements had been build with agricultural concerns in mind and were sorely lacking in defences, so they were easy prey for the greenskins.

With their homes razed the remaining colonists were forced to move. Some resorted to a nomadic lifestyle and stay on the move. Others have instead settled among populations of primitive natives, who dwell in castles and settlements among mountains and other defensible positions.

The splinter klan eventually fractured and fell to infighting, and have reverted to a feral state. Nevertheless the feral ork tribes that roam the planet can still pose a threat, and if something were to unify them once more the consequences could be catastrophic.

  • Technology: [III – Poor] Most technology is primitive & constructed by natives, but there are some leftovers of the more advanced technologies that came with the failed colonisation effort.
  • Military: Feudal Levies of the Kingdoms are in relative peace, as they know that an all-out conflict between them would unify the feral ork hordes as the greenskins sense battle.
  • Strategic importance: [Nix] Roanok is not under the control of the Imperium, and carries no inherent material or astronomical value.
  • Loyalty: [Kindoms 60% | Tribes 30%] Most of the Kindoms follow certain deviations of the Imperial Creed, passed down by the first missionaries. Deviations are rough, and have been the basis of conflicts in the past. However they've all learned well to hate the Xeno, and that hatred unifies them more than any difference in dogma divides them.
